Student science is an integral part of the professional training system for future bachelors and masters in the specialties "A4.04 Secondary Education (Mathematics)", "A4.08 Secondary Education (Physics and Astronomy)" and "E6 Applied Physics and Nanomaterials". Under the guidance of experienced teachers of the department, each applicant has the opportunity to realize their own research potential, combining scientific activity with study and future profession.
Student scientific research is organically integrated into the scientific research work of the department, which is carried out within the framework of the topic "Theoretical and methodological principles of systematic training of future teachers of mathematics, physics and specialists in the field of nanomaterials science for professional activity" (state registration number: 0126U001943). Participation in this work allows students to get involved in current scientific problems, master the methodology of pedagogical and physical research, and gain experience in scientific communication. For those who seek to delve into the fundamental issues of natural science, the department offers participation in the work of the problem group "Evolution of the Physical Picture of the World", where students, in dialogue with teachers, comprehend the development of physical knowledge from classical mechanics to modern concepts of quantum physics and cosmology.
The main form of scientific work of students is the preparation of course and qualification (master's) theses on topical issues of physical and mathematical education, didactics of natural disciplines and applied physics. Every year, after successful defense, these works are fully entered into the Institutional Repository of BDPU, which ensures their open access, academic transparency and the possibility of further use in educational and scientific practice. An important form of approbation of scientific results is participation in all-Ukrainian and international scientific and practical conferences. A special place among them is occupied by the traditional conference "Research and development work in the system of training specialists-teachers in natural, technological and computer fields", which the department has been holding since 2007 and which has become an authoritative platform for the exchange of scientific ideas among students, postgraduates and teacher-researchers of Ukraine on topical issues of the development of natural, technological and digital education.
Higher education graduates of the department are active participants in the All-Ukrainian competitions of student scientific works, competitions for gifted youth of the Zaporizhzhia region, as well as scientific events of the Council of Young Scientists of the BDPU and regularly receive awards, confirming the high level of their research. Thus, in particular, over the past three years, higher education students under the guidance of teachers in the context of the department's research work have achieved the following results:
